Prof. Iddya Karunasagar

Prof. Iddya Karunasagar is currently Senior Director for International Relations at the Nitte University in Mangalore, India. He is a former Senior Fishery Industry Officer in the Aquaculture and Fisheries Department at Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations from 2007 to 2014. He played a key role in several FAO/WHO food safety risk assessments leading to the development of international food standards at the Codex Alimentarius Commission. Before joining FAO, he was National Professor of Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Director of Research at Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, India. His major area of research include food safety risk assessment, molecular detection of foodborne pathogens, virulence factors of pathogens, biocontrol of pathogens associated with foods, diseases in aquaculture and biotechnologies for health management in aquaculture. As a researcher, he worked in several countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

Dr. Manoj Murhekar

Dr. Manoj Murhekar, is currently the Scientist-G & Director, National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE), ICMR, India. His research interests include Infectious disease epidemiology, vaccine-preventable diseases, and disease surveillance and outbreak investigations. He is also the course director for the field epidemiology training program (FETP) that the institute has conducted since 2001.

Dr. Murhekar is the core faculty for the epidemiology, disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation modules for the Master in Public Health (MPH) program of the ICMR School of Public Health.
